A challenging curriculum is offered for all students in a nurturing environment that accelerates language arts, math, science, and social studies. Literature and creative writing are the cornerstones of our language arts program. Emphasis is placed on a hands-on, problem-solving approach in math and science, while history and problem solving develop a solid foundation of social studies.
Technology is used in classrooms daily beginning in kindergarten. A new Dell computer lab and a fully wireless- networked campus provide opportunities for students to research, create multi-media projects, and share their knowledge with others. Each classroom has 4-6 computers and/or laptops that offer a technologically enriched environment to prepare them for the future.
Students are not only expected to achieve academically, but also to be good role models. Our students are taught to accept responsibility, make good choices, and show respect for others. Our goal at South Highlands is to give our students the skills needed to allow them to be leaders in the 21st Century.
