Kathy Martin (National Board Certified Teacher)
A native of Shreveport, Kathy Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Southern Methodist University. After a career in corporate banking, Kathy discovered a love for teaching while substituting at her son's preschool. This led to her completing course requirements for alternative certification in elementary education. Kathy taught preschool for six years, and in 2004 moved to South Highlands where she teaches fourth grade math. She has been married to her husband, Chris, since 1984, and they are the parents of sons Christopher, Holden, and Harrison. Kathy treasures the increasingly rare times when all five members of her family are together. She also enjoys cooking, gardening, and watching Little League, college, or professional baseball games.

Vicki Lawrence (National Board Certified Teacher)
Vicki Lawrence graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 1988. She earned her Masters of Education and Mid-Management/ Principal Certificate from Stephen F. Austin in 1993. In 2005, Vicki completed certification in gifted education through Northwestern and Centenary. Teaching since 1988, Vicki's experience has been earned in Texas and Louisiana school districts where she has taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. In the school year 2006-2007, Vicki was named South Highlands Teacher of the Year. She is a Student Council sponsor for South Highlands, and enjoys teaching gifted children in the fourth grade. Outside of school, Vicki enjoys spending time with her husband, Douglas, and two sons, Noah and Ashton. Reading, sewing, traveling, and watching her sons play Jr. Mudbug youth ice and inline hockey are her other interests.
Melissa Shaw (National Board Certified Teacher)
Melissa Shaw graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2000 and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Centenary College in 2005. She was awarded her National Board Certification in Early Childhood from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in November of 2006. Currently, Mrs. Shaw is working towards her Masters +30 Graduate Hours with only 1 more class to go! Her +30 graduate hours have focused on reading instruction and incorporating technology into the classroom. Mrs. Shaw is an active member of the Beta Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. This international society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators committed to excellence in education. Mrs. Shaw likes to write grants! She has been the recipient of grants totally $3250 from the Alliance of Education. These grants targeted reading, classroom technology, phonics/gender bias, and home/community involvement. Mrs. Shaw enjoys working with student teachers and has served as the Cooperating Teacher for six student teachers from Centenary College. Mrs. Shaw and her husband, John, have three children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and traveling.

Rosie Woodley (National Board Certified Teacher)
Since 1982, Rosie Woodley has been in the field of Education. She is a graduate of Louisiana Tech and received her Masters in Education at LSU-BR. It was her love of reading and writing that encouraged her to get her Reading Specialist degree and become the Assistant Director for the LSUS National Writing Project when it was active in the area. Rosie currently teaches fourth grade language arts. Rosie enjoys days with her family, husband Joe and children, Lucy, Maria and Joseph, affectionately referred to as L, M, and J. When she is not reading fourth grade material, you can find her reading books from just about any genre. Her dream one day is to write a humorous book about all of the people and events in her life who have inspired her.
